Dress for Success Receives Donation from Monster to Support Career Centers in Six Cities
New York, NY - May 29, 2007
- Dress for Success, an international non-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women today announced it has received a donation from Monster, the leading global online career and recruitment resource to support six Career Centers. Monster is providing tools and resources to strengthen and develop Dress for Success Career Centers in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas and San Diego.
Dress for Success Career Centers promote confidence and professionalism by providing women with career guidance, technology skills and support in their job searches. To help support these Career Centers, Monster has made a monetary donation totaling $28,000 and an in-kind donation totaling $38,000. The in-kind donation includes computers, printers, fax machines and other career resources.
"Since our inception, Monster has been creating avenues of equality and opportunity to job seekers, regardless of background," said Steve Pemberton, Chief Diversity Officer at Monster. "Our support of Dress for Success in its ongoing efforts to assist women at a transitional point in their careers is an extension of that philosophy. The career service resources Monster is making available through this alliance will truly help these women advance their lives. That means a great deal to us."
"As a company dedicated to assisting people with their careers, Monster aligns perfectly with our goal of expanding our Career Center program," said Joi Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of Dress for Success Worldwide. "With the help of Monster we have been able to provide women in six cities with a more productive environment to learn valuable skills necessary for a successful interview and career," adds Ms. Gordon.
Career Center counselors conduct one-on-one sessions with women to strengthen their knowledge of the workplace and to work on their individual needs, including resume and cover letter writing, job searching via the internet, interview preparation and mock interviews. Dress for Success currently has 21 Career Centers across the U.S. The organization's goal is to have a Career Center in every affiliate by the end of 2008.
