Author Cecelia Ahern offers special welcome
New York, NY - December 12, 2007
Emmy Award-winning actress Lisa Kudrow spoke about overcoming challenges and the power of mentoring to a group of more than 350 guests today at the annual
Women Helping Women Breakfast benefiting Dress for Success held at the New York Athletic Club.
The event was presented by P.S. I Love You, a new movie coming to theaters on December 21 and co-starring Ms. Kudrow. Award-winning producer Wendy Finerman (Forrest Gump,
The Devil Wears Prada, P.S. I Love You) and Cecelia Ahern, bestselling author of
P.S. I Love You, were also in attendance.
The breakfast supported the Professional Women’s Group (PWG), Dress for Success’ employment retention and career development program which provides women with a network of support, practical information, and the inspiration to achieve self-defined success in their career and life. Beverly Graham, a PWG member, shared her inspiring story about overcoming abuse, addiction and incarceration to become a confident, self-sufficient professional.
Ms. Graham said: “My life has not been easy, but it has taught me many lessons. Because of those challenges, I am the woman I am today. I am smart, strong, determined, courageous and successful. And Dress for Success is a huge part of that story.”
The sold-out event raised over $80,000 for Dress for Success. Other benefactors included Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, FedEx Corporation and Lord & Taylor. In addition, JPMorgan Chase Administrative Professionals Network was honored for their contributions to the organization.
